Electric Sunroof

Quick one for you people. I have a J plate 1.6 205 gti which I bought in the summer as a spare. It has an electric sunroof fitted. Its not the same as a manual one, its slightly smaller and is located a bit further back than the manual sunroofs. Would this be an aftermarket item or was there ever such a thing as an electric sunroof available as an optional extra from new?

my guess would be aftermarket. I think the only standard ones are the manual slide back ones with the vacuum seal.

I could be wrong though.

the only sunroof available from factory was the vacuum seal sliding one that fits on the outside, and the simple britax popup one IIRC.

 

 

have heard of a few electric units, probably webasto, the o.e unit in my zx is a webasto IIRC.

Cheers guys. Shame that a nice non sunroof shell has been fitted with it, in all fairness though it looks like a good installation, no leaks and it all works as it should.

That's rare in that it works, As WP's said it was a period accessory that any windscreen place would fit, either for the dealers or aftermarket. You can also get windy handle ones like the Fords of the time too
