ORB

You are asking on a 205 owners forum if a GTi is 'any good' ??

I imagine the answer will be yes.

Should you buy it? It's all down to condition against price.

Ph 1.5, grey dashboard with the circular style heater controls, early style lights. Some say 89 was the best year body wise but depends on how its been kept.

its not quite what he was asking ORB.

He was asking, of the 3 phases, was the phase 1.5 'ok' so to speak.

Ive had 2 G reg gti's, both were very good condition - almost rust free and the quality of the paintwork was fine. Although I know of an orange (faded red) G reg locally :)

  1. I have recently bought a 1990 h reg 1.6 and to be fair the 'rust' side of things actually surprised me, slight bubbling above the rear quarter glasses but thats it, great little cars and super fun.

Hi

Yes sorry i was abit vague in what i was meaning.

Yea i'm more interested in like people have posted about poss best body year for body and so on and was the 89 classed as the 1.5.

Going to view wednesday giving me plenty of time to research the g reg specs.

Apoarently its got little bubbling on roof ( can this be cured and at what cost?

Im mechanicly minded but body work no no for me.

Is there still shops/websites who supply aftermarket and standard parts apart from pug dealers

Thanks

Gary

Generally those that have had many will tell you that 89-90 cars seem to be the best in terms of solidarity, rust etc.

I couldn't tell you where but if you search this has been covered extensively before but to a point it's not always so general these days, I have 2 '87 cars that are much tidier than 2 of my '89's for example.

I had a G reg 1.9 that had a phase 2 dash and interior from new! Rust wise I recall it was very good, the exterior was immaculate!
