2.2 (Ish) Gti6 Engine Build

This is a carry on from the engine build project I had years ago, but things went very pear shaped!

 

Hovis16 (Greig off the GTI6forum) and I are building a 2.2/2.3 engine as a project over the winter and probably year to come

 

The engine we are using is one we picked up off of NeilGti85. Got it home after scrubbing all the way home and Greig throwing up down the car not once but twice. Second time spraying the BMW behind us

 

Got it on the stand with some farmboy power and started stripping it down.

 

 

 

 

Looks like head gasket had gone slightly, also a lot of carbon on top of the pistons!

 

Next job is to remove the inlet cam to send to Petert and strip the bottom end. There's quite a big wear lip at the top of stroke. So a rebore is a must, forged pistons to follow obviously

No mate, couldn't afford to run 3 cars
