Intermittent Wash/wipe

Hi all, new here, just picked up a 205 auto a few days ago, its a cracking little car, quite fast for what it is being a 1.6. Aaanyway, the weathers a bit poop of late and I've noticed that my 205 does not seem to have an intermittent wiper option: its either all or nothing! tell me, am I being daft or is this some kind of optional extra?

Is it a base model? if so, they did not have intermittent wipe, but you can push the stalk up for a single wipe, which you can't on a gti, which does have intermittent.

ahh thanks, it's a mardi gras edition, has quite a lot of features but i guess not this. is it possible to upgrade somehow to intermittent wipe, maybe replace the wiper stalk or is it more difficult than that?

Its quite hard using the 2 speeds of Slow and Very Slow.

I checked on the Servicebox and there looks to be two different types of wiper stalk, one with intermittent and one without.

 

However, I can't say for sure whether swapping it over for a GTI one would give you the intermittent wiper.

Yes you can swap the 2 over either way and it will give you inter wipe. I had to change the stalk on my GTI in a last min rush for mot from a base model one I had, to get screen wash working. Same plug and all, just swapped it over.

Don't forget the off position is in a different place

To change from the single swipe you have now you'll need a wiper relay & an intermittent stalk.

 

You can just remove the metal link from the fuse box & fit a relay to have intermittent but will only have slow speed constant wipe without swapping the stalk.
