Tu Starter Motor

Replaced my starter motor last year with a Lucas boxed recon Valeo one, it's done about 2,000 miles and seemed to have stopped working. Took it off, checked the leads, earth etc no joy. Then remembered the old mini trick of hitting the starter gently with a hammer and this works every time.. What's the problem with it? Got it from Eurocarparts but didn't keep the receipt and it's probably just over a year old.

Sticking solenoid. Google it/you tube it. I split down the daihatsu one in my landy the other day - freed up the solenoid and replaced the contacts whilst I was in there. Piece of cake. Different make but I'd imagine that you could probably strip yours too quite easily and lightly lube up the solenoid. Mind you mine is of unknown vintage, if it were only a year old I try and take it back.

Can't remember exactly the problem with mine, but I bought a refurb from eurocarparts and it lasted a whole three months before going wrong. I ended up taking the thing to Unipart and getting a replacement which has been good since.

Went into Eurocraparts and they didn't want to know as I didn't have a copy of the invoice. Every time I go in there they take my postcode and check my address, but they claimed that they don't keep a history of what you have bought. Think I've been fobbed off, could check my bank statements to prove when I bought it, but to be honest can't be ars.d. Just won't buy anything from them ever again.
