Hammer and chisel on the metal base of the mount.

Yep, there's a stud on the bottom that winds into a captive nut.

yeah i seen that bad boy tryed with my hand... was impossible! wasnt sure if you ment try to cut though the thread with it.

Usually they need nothing more than a couple of hits with a hammer and (blunt) drift on the castellated part of the mount to rotate it anti-clockwise, which will free it off to be easily turned by hand and unscrewed.
