205=Money Pit

Not nearly the money pit my old Skyline R33 GTR was, and all things for that come with "Skyline Added Tax"!!!!!!

Bit like the Mk1 Focus RS - pretty much every genuine Ford part for that comes with "RS" tax added - and that's the one's that haven't already been made NFP.

Has there been parts for it already been made NFP? As far as I was aware the manufactures have to honour a parts supply for cars for 10 years after production has ceased. Didnt they come out in 2003 so that would be 10 years next year?

Same happened a couple of months ago for the 206 GT with rear bumper and front grille now all NFP. Front bumper was for some time now.

Ford used the excuse that the Mk1 FRS was part of the Mk1/1.5 shape of focus and therefore as those were first built from late '98/early '99 technically the 10 years had already elapsed when they started phasing a few parts out back in '09. Some of those parts like the bumpers & wings have since been manufactured in a large batch, but rather than being sold for around £300 new (like they used to be) Ford want approximately £750+ for them now :(

One of the main reason so many have been made Cat D's over the last 3 years for minor accident damage and things like cracked bumpers :(

Afternoon,

A manufacturer only has to supply parts for the duration of the warranty period and it is a code of conduct (gentleman's agreement) that parts should be supplied for about eight years after production. The more mass produced the vehicle, the more likely parts will be supplied for a longer period.

Hope this helps.
