Gti6 Valve Train Assembly Wtf?

Recommended Posts

calvinhorse

Basic run down..

XU10j4r (306 2.0 xsi) head and valves

XU10j4rs (gti6) cams, double valve springs

I've come to assemble this and realised I don't have the lower valve seats (washer that stops springs wearing into head)

Do I use the gti6 ones to match the springs?

Can anyone describe this part? Service part has the most useless picture of this part and doesnt list the valve springs as double for any model!

I believe the part number is 95320

I'm also using the gti6 XU10j4rs stem seals which fit perfectly on the XU10j4r valve guides.. Which is nice :D

Any help would be brilliant, even a picture of the gti6 valve parts in order from valve to collets would be great!

Thankyou!

yes you would need 0953 20, pic is fine :P looks much the same as the top spring retainer but has a flat base and a hole big enough for the valve stem.

can get you a pic later if I remember :)

they're about £2 each btw.

Lol my local pug dealers picture looks like a hula hoop!

A picture would be great! The head just have a flat base for it to sit on below the stem seal?

Yeah £2.13 plus the dreaded minus 10% for being a club member :D

If you want a more representative picture go on citroen service rather than servicebox. Its a lot clearer and shows all the parts nicely. (in this particular case - usually its the other way around!)

AHHHHH, lol!, I see what you mean, I was looking on Servicebox Citroen and wondering wtf Bo Duke was on about, as I had it open at the time anyway

Servicebox is Peugeot - and the diagrams differ wildly so i always check both for obscure things. In this case the citroen diagram is better.

Sam306 you beauty! Thanks that's brilliant, are Citroën and pug numbers always the same?

They don't always match, but most of the time. Certainly with engine parts such as these they will match.

Sometimes they deliberatly seperate the part numbers even if the part is the same - the only example of that i can think of is old DV6 oil filters, Peugeot - 1109z5, Citroen - 1109z6, even though its the same part as is proven since both were replaced by 1109AY!

well it says your name is Bo Duke and your Sig says "the general lee"

Here's a typical XU10J4RS valve arrangement.

The lower spring seat, i.d is circa 11.3mm, chamfers out to 16mm on the bottom, 13.2mm o.d inside the smaller spring, 19.3mm inside the larger spring, 28.3mm overall, steps go 1.3mm, 3.4mm, and total height is 5.3.

 I like how the 'typical' gti6 valve arrangement shows a severely bent valve - sounds about right!

I've probably got a set or three in the garage. Let me know if you haven't ordered any.
