Bonnet And Grille Look Twisted

Recommended Posts

Obey_R

Good afternoon,

I noticed after arriving home from a 5 hour motorway journey yesterday that my grille and bonnet look to have moved about a bit. I appreciate the photos aren't great but you can see the left edge of the bonnet is no longer flush with the wing, but more noticably it looks like the grilled has been bent upwards at the edges. The bonnet looks normal however something isnt right!

The car was in a car park for 2 weeks whilst I was away, so it is possible someone has tried to open the bonnet with force, however I think I would have noticed when picking the car up, neither are there any marks/scratches to back that up.

Any ideas would be great!?

it certainly looks like someone has been messing with it! i hope you get to the bottom of it and any damage caused is not too costly to repair

Hmmm, it does look like that I just can't see why its the grille that seems to be more bent than everything else...

Your drivers side light looks a bit wonky too :(

i'd say its at least time for a new grill, bonnet could just be the hinges possibly

The bonnet itself looks like something is causing it to stick up on one side, have you checked your bonnet fixings? make sure nothing stopping it from closing proper.

The grille doesnt even look orginal to me they appear to be inverted towards the center and im sure they are ment to be straight to some fashion.

I do have a cherry red grille un-molestered if your interested.

I would check the bonnet hinges as this can cause the leading edge to stick up. And also check the centre bolt on the grill. By the looks of it that has either come loose or snapped.

Is the slam panel properly secured with all the bolts, including the ones to the radiator cowling?

If not, that tends to allow the bonnet to lift/flap at speed and it's not that hard to twist it.

Grill should be obvious enough if you take it out - should be two bolts securing it at the top, and three prongs on the back that locate into the radiator cowling.

There are 3 bolts holding it on. It'll be fairly obvious when you have a mooch about though

The grille is original, but its been bent either by the speed or someone trying to get in. I have plenty of grilles here anyway if it is f*cked.

As for the hinges I'm not sure, I didn't look. Cant check for another few weeks as I work away from home.

Anthony, I did notice the centre bolt of the cowling was missing so will investigate that further, but it has only recently returned to me from Carl Chambers after having some engine work done, so I'm pretty sure all that is as it should be.
