Vtr Engine In 205 1.0

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I have searched btw but not really found a definitive answer. What it is, I am breaking my saxo VTR track car due to not having the time to complete track days in it. Having recently rebuilt the VTR engine, its too good to let go for £20-£30 and its a decent spec - cammed etc. The only trouble is that it is a 3 plug ECU (2002). Fitting this into a 205 1.0, would it drop straight in first. I've got vibratechnics competition engine mounts too - would these fit? Then it comes to wiring it in, will this be a massive job due to it being a multi-plug ECU type? Can the VTR box and drive shafts be fitted too?

I understand the fuel tank will also need to be changed to an injection type too or is it easier to ignore the hassle of the ECU wiring and fit carbs?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Harv

carbs would be simpler but you wouldnt have the reliability and drivability of an injection engine

personally, I'd use a 1.6 gti engine, more power, better weight distribution, stronger gearbox, though more mechanical work to make it fit in your 1.0.

I'd imagine plenty will buy your engine to go in saxo's and 106's.

in either case you would need the injection tank and pump,

but I have no idea how you'd go about making it run with the 3 plug ecu, afaik it is not multiplex but most of the instruments are controlled from it rather than having their own senders, not a big issue as you can add the 205 senders.

the 205 mounts are different to the saxo, as are the shafts.
