Hi, been offered a 205 xs with a tu24 head highlift cam and 40's I think I read on here that with a cd bottom end the compression is low? I have a vtr bottom end will it up the compression compared to the xs bottom end?

What bottom end is the TU24 head mated too? If a TU3 what will happen depends on if they've done anything to the head to get it to run sweetly on the TU3 bottom end as fitting them stock gives a very low CR ~8.5:1.

Seems to be a few of these kind of threads tonight...

Later vtr blocks came with domed pistons.

If they've heavily skimmed to head to keep up the CR on a TU24/TU3 hydrid you could have issues fitting it to a block with domed pistons - either very high CR or even piston to valve contact.

If the head is skimmed correctly to up the CR when used with an xs bottom end you will have a lovely little engine, as trogboy will know!

Rev the nuts off it all day long and those carbs sound brilliant!
