405 T16 Engine - How Much..

A mechanic I supply parts to popped over on Friday and spotted my 205 in the corner. We got chatting as to what I was doing to it and he said I had to get a T16 engine. He has a mate who apparently has a few amongst his collection of parts.

Now saying I was to go this route, what should I expect to pay for a complete standard engine and box, minus loom and ecu..

whatever is in your wallet that the seller will take and you can bear to part with.

 

but I bet it will still be more than it would cost to build a better one yourself from a tired donor S16.(got one if you want...)

realistically you find out an estimate of a parts value before you can decide whether its a good price or not. I'm not going to pay £2k and feel good about it when its only worth £500

The 405 one. Not a Turbo 16 205 engine. Thats a bit more special. The engine for sale is not anywhere near complete as far as i'm aware. (If I read the ad right) This would be a complete engine and box as ripped from the original car.

So it would it come with a transfer box etc? .Unless you wanted to turn yours into a 4x4 id leave the box and take the engine .Hard to put a price on really as its hens teeth kinda stuff.

Hmm... may be, but in this instance you could build better cheaper perhaps if there was going to be an unrealistic pricetag attached if hens teeth was the way of thinking...

Agreed i think Alex's one (for sale) needs more + tinkering. I'm sure Stew sold one a few years ago that had basically everything for circa £2k iirc?!

T16's always seem to fetch good money, As WP's said you can build a better one for what some people ask, I might have a lead on a tuned one dirt cheap thou

I sold mine for £3600, but was rebuilt around 10k before with reciepts from eccose, complete with a gearbox, paddle clutch and spa gauges etc and 3 months before the recession kicked off in 2008.
