Fuel Tank Mounting (Strap Confusion)

Does the strap support the tank at all?.My worry is if i do away with it will it be safe?.As theres only 2 studs supporting the tank up and its not as though its one each side there both on the same side.Is the tank supposed to tuck in above the seem (the side opposite the 2 mounting studs for the tank) to support the other side?.

yes it will be fine without it, you wont find it on a 5 door or a 309 IIRC.
