Finally Got A 205 Gti!

Recommended Posts

350wedge

After wanting a nice one for many years and never getting round to it I've finally got myself a nice 1.6 GTi in Miami Blue.

It belonged to Erbs on here and its now moved down to the south coast for a holiday ;)

Mechanically its very nice as is the underside but the body needs work and the seats as usual are showing their age. Over the course of the coming year it will be treated to a course of dent removal, a nice fresh coat of paint and nice new re-trimmed seats. Hopefully once I'm done it will be a really lovely little car :)

Here is a pic I took yesterday whist visiting a friend who owns something a bit special, one of my car and one with a little taster of theirs ;)

No I sold the wedge just before Xmas last year.

One day I'll have another or something similar, its my 40th in two years so that seems like an appropriate time ;)

Cheers, as I say it needs some cosmetic tarting up but hopefully over the next year will get a few bits sorted.

Not wanting to start an agrgument but i thought the only difference other than engine size was the wheels so surely a 1.9 with 1.6 rims would be better ( more power and that ) or is it the running costs and tax that u like best? Once again just curiosity

this is a personal choice but i always felt that the 1.6 was more revvy and more eager over the 1.9... my older brother had a 1.9 which i left for dust in my 1.6 on a sprint race and on motor ways we were pretty evenly matched... now i have a 2.0 205 just gotta wait until i get it on the road and see how she goes

also driveshafts, hubs and rear beams are different

Ah well thats another thing learnt hahah fair play ive been told the 1.9 has more tuning ability eg more parts can be put on at a better increase in power i that true?

Nice car! Like your (obviously poor) mates too, that's an Aventador right? As he doesn't seem to have much money don't get him to look at the undergroundracing conversion for much needed ponies on the slug :-)

Yes thats an Aventador, and having been out in it the 700 brake it comes with as standard makes it stupidly rapid even in standard form. Grip even in the damp is pretty mind boggling in a straight line! I'm sure he is well aware of UG Racing, he's a real Lambo fan (and his other half). Had a Gallardo LP-560 (I think) before the Aventador. Must admit I'm quite lucky, I know a few people with some very serious machinery :)
