Super Josh's Airconditioning Thread

Recommended Posts

205Mi16Mick

Hi All,

Everytime I find a thread about aircon in a 205 it recommends that the questioner find the build thread by Super Josh for details. However, I have tried nearly everything I can think of (such as Google Advanced Site Searches for "Started by Super Josh" ) but cannot find the thread. Can someone please point me to it? The things I want to see are how he fitted the inlet manifold and the AC compressor.

Regards,

Michael

Which engine, Mi16 or 8v? I may be able to help with info/pictures as I am most of the way through fitting A/C to my 205. Superjosh helped me out with alot of the info when I was starting out, so ask away :)

An mi16 or other 16v. I have an 205 si which I am thinking of using for the shell for a 205 16v project. It has PAS and AC, I just don't know how hard it would be to keep them with the limited space in the engine bay.

It is entirely possible to have AC with an Mi16 engine in a 205 shell. I cant confirm if its possible with a GTi6 engine.

This is SuperJosh's old engine bay (he has since gone to GTi6, and sold the engine to me :D):

It had PAS as well, from memory and looking at the photos. Space is tight, but managable. With the engine in the standard position, with a shortened inlet and exhaust manifold (on the Mi16) the space needed for the AC stuff (the bottom left hand corner of the bay where the compressor goes) is still free. Then the normal 205 AC pipework along the inner wing, with the reciever dryer etc can be retained.

He used a Mi16 finned sump, with the AC compressor fixings, and a Mi16 compressor, but as far as I know, a 205 8v AC compressor will fit fine :)

Awesome, thanks Craig. That's just what I was after. Is the engine lowered on the driver's side at all?

I cant think of any reason why it would be lowered on the drivers side, but I await correction from the forum experts :D
