Body Trim Colour?

Hi there, I'm new on here - I have a 1989 1.6 GTI, with just 47k, it's metallic grey, but the body trims are looking a little tired. I'm thinking of getting it all refurbed, but I just wanted to confirm if it should be black or grey?? I've been told different things...

 

Any help woul be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Grey, search on here for plasticare.

 

"Black" trim is a post 1990 thing, and its actually just a darker grey.

 

Grey is a touch light, and black a bit black
