Camshaft Upgrade

hi all i fitted twin carbs to the old girl a few weeks ago, loving the noise ;) but id like to get a little more out of it. anyways ive found a skip brown cam on the bay and was wondering whats in involved with changing it over, is it something i could do? or should i get a mechanic to do it if so any ideas on how long it will take? :wacko:

Depends how capable you are!! Get a haynes manual and have a read.

 

Had the carbs jetted properly?

 

What spec is the cam? Most will need higher compression than standard to work efficiently.

umm im reasonably capable, i havent had them jetted up yet. they where set up correctly for a 1.6 gti but they run sweet as a nut, timed it to 60 other day hit 60 just over 6 seconds :D .

i think the cam is 270

I have a piper 285 cam if your still wanting a cam?
