208 Teething Problems?

Recommended Posts

deathbringer929

had fifteen 208 diesels delivered today at work for use as courtesy cars. 1st one we gave out to a customer did 300 yards, 2 engine management lights on, no power as i presume its gone into safe mode and the fan runs flat out.

took it to pug dealer who will try and look at it tomorrow. whilst there i asked if they've had any issues with them. apparantly interior door handles are being replace by the dozen and one gearbox replacement so far for 3rd and fourth syncro at 8 miles!!

ours has done 9 miles so at least we managed one more!

anyone had any other experiences??

Nice title. One teething problem is enough, no idea how you cope with 208 teething problems mate :(

The r2 had issues with reverse and neutral in the sadev box, when I tested it at curbourgh. But then competition parts have a hard life and can fail. They should have it sorted now though.

As far as road cars go I haven't seen any issues within our 2 Peugeot places, other than them being too expensive at the moment. I have done 1900 miles in a 1.4hdi diesel 208 and I was going over rally stages doing gravel notes, in it for about 500 miles of that, and have had no issues whatsoever other than it is the easiest car I've had on fuel ever!! I'm not hard on my cars as I have mechanical sympathy, but I do send them on.

Thankfully I bought a 62 plate Citroen DS3 instead of a 208 last week as the lack of 208's on the road was worrying me making me think there was something wrong with them. Looks like I may have a lucky escape...hopefully !!!

Was that when the BRC were there a couple of Fridays ago? We hired it out the day after (and left much more rubber on the track than they did!!)

Aye it was. Wouldn't of been hard Henry, it absolutely poured down all day, lucky if you got any heat at all into the tyres.

Sorry to worry you but i have seen most of the above listed problems on brand new DS3's also (gearbox failures/engine failures/limp mode/broken stat housings leading to fan faults etc. etc.) - although not the interior door handles breaking, so you're alright on that one!
