Idle Speed Screw O-Ring?

Recommended Posts

Quick question, on a 1.9 GTI is there supposed to be a rubber o-ring somewhere on the idle speed adjustment screw? Just read in an archived post that there is but mine hasn't got one/never had one.

Thanks. :)

Thanks mate. I fitted a new one after reading your reply, reset the idle and went for a spin. Perfect.

Should've known something was up as after buying the car I stripped and cleaned the TB and the idle screw has 'self adjusted' about half a turn every few days since. I assumed it was worn and the gunk had been holding it in place but now I think it probably had an old, brittle one that disintegrated without me noticing when scrubbing the screw in a tub of cleaner.

Spark plugs have always looked a bit on the lean side so hopefully they tan up a bit now too.
