Real Carbon Fibre Coin Tray Cover

Recommended Posts

Strictly_Derv

I'm just in the process of fitting a real carbon fibre coin tray cover and an insert for the one above.

I just bought some 2mm sheet off ebay for £10, cut with a hack saw and finished of the edges with sandpaper...took about half an hour to do. The cover and tray was broken so it's just glued in place of the lid so it doesn't open.

I'm just waiting for the glue to dry so I can remove the tape I used to hold it in position then I'll get some pics up for those interested to see it.

Why do I always think of this thread?

To be fair yours can't be anything like as bad as those and the fact they don't open's hardly a crying shame is it? I've had my car for 4 1/2 years and only opened the coin cover once... in the first week.

That thread is gold.

I've opened mine twice in the last 3 days since its been working. Both to show the wife - who couldn't have shown less enthusiasm. Looking forward to show the next passenger how cool it is. This time I'll let them press the button so I can gauge an honest reaction as when I press it myself I sit in anticipation of failure.

Just need to finalise my 1989 dated coin selection to go inside it now.

Did you already have the spring for it or did you source one??

 who?

Yeah it had holes in from where the boost gauge was mounted plus the catch didnt work, as per.

And no it's not as tragic as that, it's a sheet in place of the lip, weave glued onto something.

Still makes no sense to me. I'm assuming it was an attempt at trolling?

In the UK, the term "Heath Robinson" is any unnecessarily complex and implausible contraption. It is perhaps more often used in relation to temporary fixes using ingenuity and whatever is to hand, often string and tape.

 I know! Hadn't realised how dusty it was, the flash must have lit it up.

I might have to make use of that dash wipe as seen in the pic thats just gathering dust.
