There are vague similarities to the old TU engine - but its basically a completely new design (EP series). I have never seen one converted but tehre has been talk of it before, a search should find a few topics. I imagine it would be a fairly custom job fitting it - with regards to chassis mods and driveshaft choices (although some EP engines use a reangled BE4 box). Then you'd probably have to run it on standalone management since all standard cars will be multiplexed. It would be like using an EW engine, but a lot more work again with no real benefit.

Its not the best engine though - i work in a citroen garage - and these engines are known for drinking oil, stretching timing chains and a variety of other wonderful faults.

As i said, i haven't actually seen one converted, but the above was enough to put me off!

The basic reliability issues the standard engines are suffering, I wouldn't be in any hurry to fit one through choice! Given the range of much better and easy engine options...

As mentioned, was chatting to a Peugeot Master Tech last week and he was cursing them as crap BMW engines

most issues are around the timing chain and tensioners, though another tech did say there were some fixes I don't know what they were, he hasn't replied yet.

if only they'd stuck to a belt, or driven a single cam from the crank with a second chain linking the cams rather than a single long chain, it sounds like they would be decent!

Also if the oil isn't in top condition (every 5,000miles with the perfect amount the valve gear will wear the head and the engine will tap for ever more

That's from a Peugeot main dealer who was very un impressed

yes, though that's the case for most modern engines.

Isn't the RCZ getting a 260hp engine soon? that would be worth it.....

not unless they redesign the timing end of the engine

must be a reason why Citroen did not use this engine as a base for their WRC engine, but designed a totally new engine ;)

My bosses ds3r (road car) drinks oil like its going out of fashion - he hates that my 24 yr old 205 doesnt use a drop and is always golden whilst his brand new £23k ds3 is always being topped up and is black!

One of the fixes i have seen on the later RCZ's and now the DS4 is deleting the breather from the cam cover to the inlet tract. PSA seem to be keeping this one quiet since it effects the engines emissions but at least it prevents all the oil being sucked into the inlet.
