Car Is Possessed And Wants To Kill Me...

steering rack rack-ends, loose subframe bolts(even though I am unfamiliar with the none GTIs layout), check your wheel bolts  , apart from that and what has already been said now I'm out of ideas for the time being.

I had the tracking done which has helped the issue alot - however if i let go of the steering wheel the car still wants to go to the left. If it was the rear beam that was causing the issue what part would it be? as the radius arms feel very firm and theres only one way you can put the axle on! Its really annoying me as the car was driving so well only a few months ago.

Right, I'm going to get the steering rod ends replaced... Just been so busy with life that I haven't really done anything about the steering issues... I have seen numerous one on ebay, QH etc... Which ones would I be better off buying?

Also, kinda worried as pic's for said items show "male" & "female" thread type???

Well, I replaced both of the steering arm ball joints. Both of there boots were all but completely perished, so I'm guessing that they were quite probably like that when it had it's MOT test last year, the car passed like that so not happy. all I need to do now is get the tracking sorted and all done, well happy :-)

Well it's even worse now that I've replaced the steering ball joints and had the tracking done!!... I've checked the tire pressures, the rear beam seems ok, no squeaks, wheels look all true both sides and being equal too (finger spacing between wheel and arch), and had the car laser tracked.

I've had the car jacked up last night and I did notice that the n/s drive shaft has play when you twist it clock and anti clockwise, plus also noticed the engine move back and forth when the wheel was rotated back & forth by hand and car being in gear.

Other than that I have no clue...

We had the occasional sharp tug through the steering before I replaced the NS driveshaft - typically, coming off LH lock with a bit of power on, or pulling away a bit sharpish (well, as sharpish as you can in a 1.1) It was nowhere near as bad as yours sounds, either - the boot was intact (and not a recent replacement). With the old shaft off, the outer CV was definitely loose and floppy, but didn't feel that bad on the car. It must've been binding up under those certain conditions, though.

If you've not changed that driveshaft yet, that's gotta be the highest likelihood. You've gotta do it sooner or later, anyway.

Well I need a n/s front hub carrier, it's ovalled, hence the wanted advert... But I have researched and the carrier from a 1.6 GTI will fit, less the actual hub. It also had a knackard lower suspension arm, seems the ovalled out carrier had killed it. As to anything else, I'm not sure yet...

Well, mines all ok now... a new hub carrier due to ovaled out hole, another new lower suspension arm and another steering ball joint have been replaced on the n/s. A happy man I am :-)

Try the hub but were the bottom ball joint fits in the hub i thought my ball joints were worn on my 306 as it used to chuck me all over the road. But in fact the holes on the hubs had streched so the ball joing was just flopping about. Just changed my hubs on my 205 as they started to do it.
