you have answered your own question. You might need to swap a gear selection arm from the 405 to the 205 item. difficulty rating : 0.

yes it will fit just fine, however you will need to check if it has a crank sensor hole in the top of the bellhousing.

swap the top selector arm for the 205 one by knocking out the two rollpins, don't let the shaft drop into the gearbox though.

if it is from anything but an MI16 however, it's likely to have very horrible gear ratios for a 205.

so by that im guessing its short ratios threw 1,2 +3 and thn longer threw 4 +5 ? if thats the case thn surely this would be the best fast road option rather than a vts 1.9 or 1.6 ??

yes thats what i thought due to the arm inside he says its a be1 but i said are you sure of this ?? the be1 should surely have a hole with a boble for the clutch arm to pivot on like in a 205 be1

All Mi16s did not have be3. I think from 1990 onwards they have be3, so 88 and 89 models shall have be1.

All Mi16 boxes have a crank sensor hole.

Impossible to say from that picture alone, other than it's not the Mi16 'box it's claiming to be!

It could be from anything from a GTi to a diesel.

if there's a brand new box, it should have a sticker with a code on the rear side of the bellhousing just above the diff casing.

The one in the last link is a std BE1 box post 1987 as it has the blanked off holes for the cross shaft which appears on the BE3 box and BE1's fitted on the Mi, but the case is very different, but not to help the cause the TD's used the same case as the Mi
