What Engine In My Rallye

Recommended Posts

custard-rallye

As title says what engine would you put in sold all my supercharger bits so thinking Honda k20 or Sr20det as I want boost so Honda would cost a fortune also who would you recommend to do the job

Would consider t16 but if it goes bang they are hard to get atleast a Sr20 from a pulsar is 2 a penny

you can build your own T16, there's nothing that special about them, its the same head as the S16, block is the same as any other XU10 iron block as well bar minor details like oil jets and some pipework.

given it bolts straight in I would choose one personally over dropping in some tired old Japcrud... the money that you would need to spend on making it fit and run can then go into building a reliable pug motor.

However personally I would go alloy block N-A, that's what a rallye is all about.

What kind of rallye do you have, the 1.3 carbs or 1.9 injection version?

I was going 106 gti supercharged already but was tempted by more power parts available ie Sr20

Cossie engine about 2k it's just getting it in there. II have thought about doing this conversion so many times as I have omex I wouldn't need to worry much about cossie ecu etc

Go for it :)

Hate to be the pessimist, but seriously consider your budget and I don't just mean a figure pulled out the air that you'd be happy to spend, I mean a proper figure and at least a fairly good idea of a break down and what that figure is made up of.

When you have that, look at your ability and make the best of both.

Apologies it comes across as negative, but don't tease yourself and be realistic.

been quoted 7.5k for k20 conversion which is fine id be willing to pay that as its the same people that did the k20 205 on here and its ment to be really good

hi Stefan

Yes we have fitted a K20 civic type R engine and 6 speed gearbox into a 205 . Cost for conversion labour £3500 , engine/box £1200 , dta management kit £1200 , driveshafts £300 , Exhaust manifold/system £800 , radiator /fan , + odds and ends £300 . Thats roughly what you need and about 3 weeks turnaround cheers geoff

this was the email watsonsrally anybody dealt with em?

I was under the impression that the xu10j4te and xu10j2te used a slightly different block than the n/a xu10's since they have wider bearings and a different oil pump - can anyone confirm or deny that since i'm not 100% sure.

On topic though, i would kill for a k20 engined 205, but i wouldn't pay £7500 grand for it. Think of the spec of gti-6 or mi16 you could get for that money - dry sumped and all to avoid problems. I always liked the way that Bally did his k20 conversion, and would try something similar if my skill level was there - which it isn't...yet.

I hope to have a kit available soon (1-2 months) to make the K20 simply a drop in option, with no engine bay modifications necessary.

Also the cost would be significantly less. As one option to lower the cost is a simple immobilizer delete on the original K20 ECU. This costs around £150. Compared to DTA at £1200.

The above is great news if it comes to fruition. I'd be keen to see such a kit - especially so close to me.

I don't see why they charge £1200 for a DTA? unless an S40 and a decent loom at £800 odd, or even less if you do it yourself.

that's the crank, not the block, T16 is the only XU10 that doesn't use the same crank, 10J2Te's use the same bearings as the J2's, the mains for most xu10's are the same as well.

I would've except every single block will have a different part number on the system - all the xu10's, so i cannot tell if any are different. Also, no citroen ever had the xu10j4te so i cannot check it (except with my servicebox account).

Apologies for off topic banter!

£7500...is that not a bit excessive even if you do have the money to spend?

What sort of power are you chasing?
