Tom Fenton

Years ago when ihad a 405Mi16 as my road car it did this. I had been queueing through very heavy traffic for about 20 min so everything was stinking hot. Got to my destination and pulled up and switched off. Just after switching off the car did an almighty backfire. Got out to see bits of exhaust wadding everywhere and it had done exactly the same as your picture above.

It bent the heat shield as well!

Maybe I should buy a new back box, and not weld this one up.... Humm... but it wouldnt take long just to zip it up!

Can't see why not, its sealed back up isnt it!

I'd be rather more worried about the fire hazard though tbh!
