Water Hose For Xs

Recommended Posts

magicmopman

Hi guys, today my XS decided to try and kill herself!

The large water hose that runs from the bottom of the waterpump to the bulkhead (below the T-piece piping with the bleed nipple) has failed, I lost alll my coolant and had to abandon the car..

Does anyone know where I could find this specific pipe, is my best bet the scrappers?

Cheers

Hi mate, I'd give your local motor parts suppliers a ring, or call in to see them. I've had a quick look online, can't seem to find one.

You might be looking at having to go to your local Pug dealer to get one.

part number is 6464 F9, however is marked no further production so you might struggle to get one.

I have a bundle of xs water pipes, get a photo of the one in question and I'll see if I have one.

thanks all, the car is miles away from my house so unfortunately I can't take a snap right now.. I've had a look on service box and I couldn't find the exact part I was looking for.. and now service box online is not working.

It's a long heater water hose that come from the bottom of the waterpump, runs over the gearbox and then meets up with the lowest of the two holes in the bulkhead for the heater matrix..

I've found someone in Bath who is breaking a 1.4 TU 205, hopefully the part will be the same, but either way I'll be riding a bicycle to and from work for a few days :(

Had a look on service box and I've identified the pipe as part no - 6464 A6

You could use a length of straight hose from a motor factors to do the same job -15mm I think. Won't be quite as neat but it would work.

Failing that I probably have one in the garage somewhere, and I work in Bristol most of the time.

Good to know Ad, thanks.

I should have the part arriving tonight, I could've bodged it with a straight piece of hose but I wanted to try and avoid that at all costs.

Unfortunately my XS is likely to be up for sale soon - I'm looking at picking up something very exciting to replace it though!

Iif anyone is interested in a nice '89 XS then give me a shout - standard apart from a K&N & charming Momo retro steering wheel, 61k, new cambelt & water pump, long tax and MOT til March!
