Undesireable Rear Window Sticker

Recommended Posts

vtifan

well i have been on the forum for a few weeks now and have heard a couple of remarks made about a certain rear window sticker from a certain company. my new 205 has this window sticker and i thought a couple of the remarks were a little harsh as my car seemed pretty decent, well i started stripping the car this week and today i thought i would deal with the rust bubble i had noticed on the lower rear quarter,i thought i would have to weld it anyway as the water was obviosly getting below the paint which usually means a rusty pinhole in the steel, well i took the trusty grinder to it and was amazed that there were no sparks just a huge cloud of white dust, some shoddy cnut had bashed a small bit of rust in and filled it with catalloy,so i would echo the sentiments of some on here and beware of buying anything from this company if this is the standard of work they put out, because this car has just been tarted up to look good and in my opinion that is shoddy and basically dishonest for a large and i would guess on here disreputable company, just glad i got it reasonably cheap and not at their prices, rant over

When i was on the hunt for my 205 a few years ago, and before i'd found this forum, i remember a certain French based car magazine praising said company and their efforts in tuning and restoration work. Basically the idea being that if you wanted the best example of a 205 this was the place to get one from even if the price of some of the vehicles was a fair whack higher than the private market. Good i thought. I was so close to going down there and having a look at their stock and buying one of the "mint" examples, but i decided to do an internet search. After reading a few of the links i found i decided at that point i was generally better off looking for a privately owned example, that even if it needed a fair bit of work, it would still work out better value for money ;) Turned out i was right :)

They're a blessing and a curse. On one hand they're helping keep the prices of 205s up, which helps all of us. On the other they're selling shoddy cars to people who don't know better. As enthusiasts we're (mostly) people who do know better, so it doesn't really affect us. Even then, anyone who does their homework before buying a car from a dealer/garage (as they should) will quickly find out what they're really like and with the vast resource of the internet being so readily accessible, there's no excuse for ignorance.

There's an Integra (non type-r) around my area adorned with much stickerbombing and that's one of the stickers - the car is anything but "Bang Tidy" lol

Doubt it...

Although saying that, i had a Miami a few years ago that'd been through them & was gorgeous, but i knew it had had some filler/paintwork but then i have 'the eye' for that kind of stuff, not many are quite so eagle eyed, even up close.

Give Tom a shout Justin - the guy that did the welding and respray on his rear quarter looks to have done a pretty good job to my untrained eye and for quite reasonable money. Certainly I'm happy enough with the finish that I'm going to get him to quote to do the sorry looking roof on mine and possibly tidy up a few other bits of the car.

Also worth a look is Fletcher's Bodyshop in Wycombe just off the London Road. Absolutely s*it hot.
