Chrome Spray Paint For Light Cluster?

Recommended Posts

scottbarton

Took the lens covers off my two Valeo units yesterday to investigate why the right hand side looks a bit brighter then the left. Discovered that the chrome colour has all faded on the left compared to the new unit in the right which would explain it.

Halfords sell a tin of Chrome spray paint, suitable for all surfaces. Anyone tried this and got any decent results?

I've not used the Halfords stuff, but I did respray the reflectors on my rear lights that like yours had lost most of their reflective/chrome finish and it made a noticeable difference in brightness. The finish isn't as shiny/reflective as a new light though, so in your case will still look a bit odd.

That's how mine came out to give you some idea, although the picture is a little under-exposed and hence don't appear as bright as they actually are. I haven't got a before picture to hand, but they were just dull white-ish plastic in the worse areas and very dull silver elsewhere.

Perhaps with some spray clearcoat you'll get a bit more brightness.

The spray kind are usually very glossy.

Well here are the before pictures...

Not much silver as can be seen on the bottom half of the unit.

It is rather more 'silver' than 'chrome'...despite the shiny label on the can. Its a lot lot better than what it was like thought so in that respect i am happy.
