Just a quick question about peoples interactions with other drivers about their cars.

A few times recently, people have taken to telling me how nice my car is (wait until they look underneath, not so nice now is it?) and try talking to me about them. Thing is, its been as im trying to drive the damn thing. I know people who know, hanker after them but timing could usually be better.

One this evening was right up my arse (see previous post about my experience with tailgaters and speeding) so im there just wondering what the hell as hes weaving trying to pull up along side. Winds his window down next lights and comes out with the "nice car mate" line. Jebus! Was half expecting a bloody drive by.

Anyone else have similar experiences and how do they feel about it.

Every time I fill up with go go juice someone will come up and have a chat.

White van man at traffic lights will beep and give a thumbs up.

Even when I was trying to give the car a quick dry after washing, so I don't get water spots. A guy wanted to chat. I got water spots gggggrrrrrrr!

Not had anyone tail gating, as far as I know. If I got too concerned with someone right up my chuff. Drop it into 3rd and disappear into the horizon. Obviously, when safe to do so.

More so lately than before, I have had people commenting on my car as well, but in more normal situations, filling up with petrol. Last time was when We were picking up our other car(family focus) from having the rear windows tinted and there was a chap on the car park changing a rear windscreen(auto glass or similar) he came over to chat and said he was glad I was not there to have the windows done, I think it might be as they continue to get older people see less and less of them, and start to consider them as classic/retro.

I always get it.

Apart from a guy on a bike pulling alongside and giving me the thumbsup whilst on the motorway, the most bizaar time was when I lorry driver (whilst on the motorway), stuck his hand out of the window and waved it forward to encourage me to gun it passed him.

Naturally I obliged, and he responded in tooting and flashing his lights. Must have had one sat in the garage back home.

I must say that things only seem to happen after I've given her a wash!

Just part of the 205 experience! Never had anyone say a word about my previous cars but can't go more than a day or two without someone saying something complimentary about the 205.

Before i had the 205 i was the one giving other people comments though - once i came across an old fella in a 1.6 GTI and i told him "nice car" had a chat and all that - he finished with "This is my modern car, my other car is a Bristol and the 205 gets more attention!"
