Is there a way to make a 205 4WD? how do you do it? what do you need to do it?

Is there a six speed gear box to fit on a 205? How do you fit it?

I would have though a BE3/6 GTi6 box would work with a 4x4 Mi16 transfer box? Unless I don't know what I'm talking about!!! :P

there's no differential in the 4x4 gearbox, therefore you'd have to take it out of the GTI-6 one as well.

Doesn't the transfer box bolt onto the BE box where the diff normally fits so it would do away with that straight away?

I've thought about this conversion myself, however it's too complicated and i'd rather just fit the engine in the boot and go RWD.

instead of diff, there's a gearbox-to-transferbox axle screwed onto the final drive ring.

though it may not have the same bolt pattern .

Just out of interest, would the 405 4x4 running gear work on the 205.

Obviously, you'd have to build a tranny tunnel and sort the rear suspension, but would the 405 gear be upto the job?

you'd need mi16x4 drivetrain and also a shortened prop shaft.

but why not, the car would even be lighter than a 405 mi16x4.

I made one of these last week using some technics lego and a 12 litre merlin engine. I also brought back Lord Luton from Mars in order to stand trial.

All this is easy, I just magic'ed it out of my ass. ;)

Ryan, first thing is that the only 2.0litre 16v turbo engines are the ones in the 405 T16, and i believe the 205 T16 roadcar version, Both only avalible in france.

you can get the 16v engines though.

not as easy as that ryan. Would take some major modding to the rear especially with the 205 having torsion bars.

But it would be good.

Im not sure about this but didn't the escort mk1 and 2 have rear torsion bars, or was this something i made up. If so maybe looking into the design of that system and somehow modifying a new system to fit, may work.

edit: was the escort leaf springs?

I used to have a Mk1 1300E - 1680cc engine with twin webers

Yes it did have a torsion bar fitted after engine upgrade also new prop and new diff all from mexico

yes it did have leaf springs - mine were from the mk 1 mexico plus had a lowering kit to lower it 2 inches at the front and rear

First just got to get the car finished and then i join the Mi16 club.

Second find out how to do a six speed 4x4 205.
