Ecu Location?

Hi - just bought a DFW-engined 1992 405Mi16 in immaculate condition with just 76,000kms on the odo and a comprehensive service history.

 

Where is the ECU located on this cars? I want to discover which ECU version is fitted so I can begin to explore whether any straightforward improvements might be possible to improve the rather lifeless sub-4000rpm performance.

Its under a plastic cover by the bulkhead, opposite side to the brake servo

From what Peter T has said there are no real bolt on performance mods for this engine. ECU changes generally have a small difference unless internal work is done.

 

Every possibility I'm wrong though so give his site a looksee it's a pretty wicked source of info:
