Mi16 Exhaust Manifold Options

Recommended Posts

JeffR

Due to the position of the arb on the Mi16, both Gti6 & Gti16 spaghetti manifolds won't fit.

Are there any performance options available for the 405? Preferably equal length for either a 4-1 or 4-2-1?

Thanks

I think Miles on here can sort you out a 4-2-1 manifold.

I have contacted Miles & he explained that an Mi16 engine which typically makes 185(ish)hp on throttle bodies, reground std cams & std exh manifold, made 199hp when fitted with his 4-2-1.

The pic is of 205/309 ones but the 405 ones are similar. Does it matter in practice if the runners are unequal lengths?

Is anyone using these on higher powered 1.9 Mi's (220-230hp)? Not that I'm expecting to make that power, (more like +200) but it would be good to know they have that sort of potential.

Thanks

Jesus! i knew they were good, but didn't know that Miles' exhausts were that effective!! (or the standard ones were that restrictive!) Was that a 405 or 205?

Miles

As said when I built my old engine in the 309 all it had was some Kent 262's, T/B's and the exhaust manifold and it made 199bhp at around 8k from memory, I know most people are around the 185 mark on the std manifold which is all I can go by, the figures where on Owen Dev RR so are pretty much as close as you will get.

It would be good for a back to back but it's the time and ££ involoved in it all

Shame the big end bolt snaped and set the car on fire!!

:(

I know i really should have one on the 205 anyway, it's a fat lump of cash, but if it makes that much of a difference perhaps i really should consider!

Would be rude not to do a back to back RR report too considering i have access to a set of Dyno-Dynamics rollers! :D
