Abs Fixed !

Recommended Posts

Mr Teflon

So, it's that time of year again - but the guy who normally looks after the car for the MOT is away in Portugal.

Now - he's an understanding chap when it comes to 405 ABS systems, and he's a bit warning lamp colourblind as long as the car brakes OK ;)

Realising I'm going to have to take it somewhere different I decide to attack the problem ABS system as it's a fail if I don't. So, I do what any other self respecting Mi16 owner would do - pop off the binnacle cover and whip out the bulb

Thing is - since I did this this morning, now the ABS has decided to actually work again, application after application, start after start, time after time.

Gallic charm - you gotta love it :lol::lol:

Any ideas anyone? Surely not a faulty bulb causing the whole system to fail?

which system does it run? presumably the later system?

the problems I had with mine was down to corrosion on the terminals inside the pump where the main electrical connector is, the system wouldn't power up fully but would still register a fault.

Mr Teflon

It's running the earlier Bendix system.

Come to think of it - I was fiddling around behind the dash while I a) had a quick look for the ABS relay fuse and B) tried to see if I could get at the speedo drive.

I suppose I could well have disturbed the relay, in fact now I think about it there is even a relay sounding clicking coming from behind the dash when I turn the wheel to the right! - if I knew what it looked like I'd check. Running out of time tho' now, car is booked in for MOT Thurs before heading to the Ring on Friday.

Thanks Welshpug - I think you've solved it - dodgy connection or dodgy relay.

Nice B)
