Under the bonnet on my 4bie there is a plaque that says series 1, but there is another one next to it that says Homogilation. Do they all say this? What does it mean?

Cheers

I think that has something to do with when they were imported to your country. Have you got a pic of the two plaques, just out of interest please?

Homologation is the French for "approval"

They had to build the 4bie as a base to homologate the Rally/Pikes Peak versions, this is a requirement that is often in the regulations of motorsport events hence the plates saying 'Homologation', and something like 'Grp N' aswel iirc.

I seriously have to double check my spelling in Future. Homologation*

So does this mean anything in particular? Does a 4bie that has N Homologation any different to other 4bies or do they all say that?

Cheers

Its simply to do with Type approval for various markets I think. I don't think its anything motorsport related. I've seen homologation plates like that on cars before but I'm damned if I can remember which car it was!

Afaik the 405 T16 rally cars didn't need homologation

Everything needs homologation! I agree with what your saying about type approval though, wasn';t totally sure that it's just for the motorsport use.

The plate would let you/anyone know what papers to refer back to for the homologation for that particular car. Just no idea why it's on some cars only.

Perhaps because the 4bie's were a limited production run or something...?

You sure about the homologation thing for the T16 rally cars? There were never any 405 Turbo Specials produced around that time
