5 Pin Relay

Recommended Posts

post-141-13454032252_thumb.jpgThe other day i was working on my car looking at why something wasnt working and i came across a 5 pin relay behind the washer bottle on the drivers side scuttle and it was as rusty as hell.

Does anyone know what it is for?

I have a feeling it is for the headlamp washer pump, it is five pin as it needs an input from the headlamp circuit to activate it, i will confirm it tomorrow and let you know if it is differant or not.

I noticed this relay too the other day and wondered what it was for. I'll take a look tomorrow and see if I can figure out what it's for

That would make sense as I expect the headlamp pump pulls quite a bit of current as it is so powerful, so the relay would need to be close by

If it is for the headlamp washers then that would explain why i could never get them to work because the connections on the relay had corroded so much that only 3 out of the 5 are connected.

Also its not the smartest place to put it anyway due to the fact that you can bearly get to that area to keep it clean and its next to the washer bottle so it only takes the drain hole to block up with dirt and leaves and then its exposed to any water that may get spilt when topping up the bottle. <_<

That would be great. I meant to say could you "post it on the forum" and not "post it" (stupid me).

Any or all wiring info on the phase 1 1990 mi16 air con would be very helpful please because i have a power fault somewhere and i want to trace where the wires go.

I would give you an email address but its my mates computer and he doesnt want me to give out his email address. Sorry.

Thank you for the email and the diagrams. They are perfect quality.

It has now made finding out how the air con works and where everthing is situated so much more easier.

Cheers :)
