Retrimming The Headlining

Recommended Posts

Guest elmitchio

how difficult would it be to retrim the headlining? as mine is in desperate need of doing, and im thinkin black alacantara to go with the black leather and the install in the boot, and maybe spray the pillar plastics black aswell.

any ideas how to do all this???

Thats what i'm going to do this winter, i love black and leather, it will fit perfectly with my leather seats en custom leather doorpanels.

I will retrim the headliner with black suede/alacantra, the plastic pillars will keep there color for the contrast.

Everthing else on the roof wil be retrimt or spray painted.

I don't think its a difficult job.

A full review will be on oure website after I'm done.

ah rite, cheers man that would be good. the only thing that got me worried was that in the haynes manual it doesnt even tell you how to take down the headlining, it just says it is too hard and get a proffesional to do it!!!

its not that hard, as i've already taken my head liner out. you will find it easier with the front seats out as its awkward to get it out of the car.

as for the plastic trim why bother spraying when you can do like i've just done and get lower spec black trim. Gavin

oh rite i didnt know there was different trim on lower spec models, is it all the lower models or just a few??? so u dont think it would be too much of a scary idea to try n redo the lining myself then? seems like a bit of a mission to get it out lol.

is it actually possible to get it out without taking out the seats?

yeah its possible, but a lot easier with them out. 1st time i did it i didn't remove seats. no probs gettin it out. 2nd time got it stuck. . when puttin it back didn't take any chances and removed seats.

Tell you what I want to do: take out headlining, rip out sunroof and all it's gubbins, and then put a non sunroof headlining in.

Why? More head room + less weight. I don't need the sunroof. Got the aircon.

Could It be posible to do it when the seats ar in there lowest position?

I don't like the idea of removing the seats (again) :D (lazy)

I'm using a fabric from the company where my brother works, its calt Lamonta.

My leather for the doorpannels comes from the same company.

And I've heard rumors this fabric is going to be used in futher Peugeots ;)

Nice, definately an improvement on standard. Is the Lamonta material like a suede sort of thing?

A little bit further, the roof liner is back in the car, didn't get good pictures, my batteries are empty :(

The sunguards (don't know what you call it in english), they need to be finshed first (thanks mom B) )

And the mechanism for my aftermarket (crappy) sunroof needs finshing.

Some pictures,

what mechanism broke? is it the motor or the chain that runs the sunroof. when my father fixed my sunroof, the power motor was still working, but the chain that runs the sunroof back and forth was rusted, so my father had to replace those chains from a different car with a sunroof.

Its a cheap ass aftermarket sunroof.

So I cant put in a original, I'm browsing for a aftermarket electric one.

But 4-500 euros is a lot of money!
