2lt Mi16 Engine Problem.

right im having little problem with the acav system on my 405.

the problem is the diaphrams are opening the butteflies in the inlet manifold all the time instead of just opening then from 2500rpm till 5500prm where they should or around them revs,

which means the engine is getting too much air at low and high revs so is bit flat and crap at high revs.

ive fitted a new cylinder on the end of the cylinder head the connects to the diaphrams and its made no difference. which way is the hoses supposed to connect if it makes any difference?

if i connect 1 way the vavles open all the time if i swap the hoses round then the butterflies are closed at idle but open when throttle is open/applied.

what does the big round cylinder do that the hose from the little cylinder connects to do? could this be the problem?

well no. becuase they should only be open between 1800rpm till 5500rpm.

but mine open all the time which makes it run s*it at high revs.

yeah but when you put your foot on the throttle they should open the when it gets to about 4.5K or around there they should shut do they when plumbed in that way??

no thats the trouble.

as soon as you press the accelerator either driving or under bonnet the valves open but dont shut of again until bk on idle. they just stay open with giving revs.

if i disconnect the hoses to the 2 diaphrams so vavles are shut then the car go like s*it at high revs but below 5500rpm is flat as hell.

ive put a brand new from peugeot soleniod that the hoses run from. and tryed the hoses on both ways. one way the valves open all the time even on idle. and the other the valves will be closed at idle and open at revs.

cheers mate.

had already been out on the car today and got the acav system working again :D

found the air reservior thingy(big cylinder under soleniod) i couldnt blow through both ways so i took it off then kept blowing through each side until it cleared. must had been blocked.

replaced everything its finally working properly.
