Ride Height Control

Recommended Posts

I'm having trouble with the ride height on my Mi16x4. About a week ago it bottomed out. I was able to get it back up again, but it was intermittent. Sometimes it would behave correctly, other times bottom out. After looking through the schematic, I discovered that the ride height sensor was keeping the ride height solenoid open, completely depressurising the system. I swapped over a spare ride height sensor, but yet the problem still remains.

I can't believe two ride height sensors could have an intermittent fault.

The solenoid can only be earthed (opened) two ways, via the ride height sensor or by closing the two terminals manually near the maximum height switch.

Any thoughts?

One of our chaps had very similar problems after a track day at Angelsey. Turned out to be air sucked into the pump. Pressure bled the system and it worked fine ever since.

Probably not your problem but worth double checking.

It could be the same problem. Mine happened after a day at the track. On the way home actually.

But that doesn't explain why the relay for the soleniod is staying on, depressurising the system, even when it's bottomed out.

My x4's exactly the same, and again has also like that since it was 'used in anger' (Broken transfer box too!) Haven't investigated as of yet but will try that. :)
