205/306's In Perth, Australia

Recommended Posts

Ok, so this may be a borderline wanted topic but I figured it would kind of make sense to post in here as its aimed more at the Australian members, ( I believe there are a few) and is a bit more in depth than a simple wanted ad.

So, since my last time being in Perth about two years back I remember seeing plenty of 205 and 306's, but where are they now? I'm having a bad case of Falcon/commodore syndrome and need to find a 205 or 306 again. Sure there's a few base models but where have all the gti's gone? I've been on aussiefrogs but to no avail. Can any in the loop Aussies/clued up members help me out here?

Also, are there any members on here moving over this way any time soon?

I'll be in Perth around mid March next year, after a week in Fiji and 6 weeks in NZ, can't wait! B) I think I'll stay there for a while so how is it finding work out there, I'm a carpenter if that helps. Also, what areas are nice to live in? From what I've read Northbridge seems to be recommended?

Living in Perth, I have a 205 with MI16 conversion with quad throttle bodies, AP LSD and Autronic SMC engine management.

Primary use is for track days, sprints and motorkhanas.

I rarely see any other 205s, let alone GTIs. As Gerry said there are probably around 10 in WA.

Is your gti the one that had the 205 gti plates on it??

If so I nearly bought it about 3 years ago but then the wife decided it was too expensive at the time :(

10 in W.A!

Looks like I'll be driving the falcon for a while yet then.

Agree with the comments about northbridge, I wouldn't want to live there, and to be honest, why would you. The actual inner city doesn't have that much to offer IMO.. Far better to be near a beach, Of which there are plenty. Regarding work, if you have a trade, you will certainly have work.

Fremantle, cottesloe, Scarborough are pretty nice places. further north and where a lot of Brits live is joondalup, but ultimately it depends on what you'd want. I'm sure there are plenty of other nice areas that I've missed too.

Get down south less poms and less scum!! And if you pm me I will tell you exactly how I know :)

Yeah there maybe a few more than ten, and you can always bring one from the uk over or buy interstate...

I had a falcon xr6 turbo (my first car when I landed 4 years ago) went well 4.0 litre straight 6 with garrett gt35 and capa flash tune :)

Handled rubbish though!!

Yeah, i did think about buying from the eastern states, but not sure I'd want the constant worry that it would break down on the way back.

I've been looking at xr6's. I do like the look of them and although the handling is crap I seem to have a soft spot for the electric blue BA models.
