Body Kit Fixing Clips

Recommended Posts

SurGie

Hi,

I have a set of the body kit fixing clips below but unsure on what some of them are used for, i dont recognise a few bits.

From memory, does the black threaded pins go into the black rubber hole sleeves that goes into the holes, then the rubber washers go against the back of the wings, then the metal washer fixes them together ?

So what are the top left white pins, the two threaded white pins and the far top right grey large funny shaped pins used for ?

Cheers

Top left white plain stubs go through holes then a rubber washer and finally a (fit once smash to bits to remove clip) at least 2 at the very top of each arch, to hold the arch on flush. Rest of arch holes have a plastic grub and then the black stubs lower left. The grey 2 stubs are for the front arch and hold it on where the small red trim goes and also the red trim itself, the small white ones next to them fit 1 underneath the red trim section on each front arch also with a black grub. Finally 2 (fit once smash to bits to remove clips) at the end of each arch to attach flush to bumpers

Thanks Andy, here's a picture >

Does the rubber washer go inside the arch holes or on the outer side of the wings, i guess inner ?

Its just weird how the metal fixing clips has 13, yet 14 black threaded stubs. Does this look like the total part of the one side kit (except the obvious clips that are not in the picture) or do i have a few bits missing/gained ?

Its part of a larger one side kit, not cheap, however im sure if you go to your local scrap yard and take the rust free pedal box clips that holds the foam in place, they should fit the same way.

On that picture you have things a little muddled. Before you go any further its best to make sure you or anyone else reading that you slide the stubs into the arches first then press into the wings! Starting with the white stubs, they go through the wing with no plastic grub then the rubber washer goes on next followed by the use once clip. With the black ones they just use a plastic grub no fixing on the back and thats it. It does sound like you may have extras or missing bits tho.

EDIT: Thinking about it, if you have enough to go round im sure it wont hurt to use a plastic grub in every hole!

Sure, it will help stop any damage to the paint around the hole edges, where the rust always seems to start around metal edges, as well as welding seams. I have some spare so will use them there too.

I thought so, ill pop over to the car and check it over, the plastic grub sleeve iirc, were missing at the top holes.

Cheers for the link James.

Thats the proper part you should be using with the white grubs surgie, 9e as above! Those big clips that you have been suplied with are the arch to bumper fixings and they are also in the centre of that picture but with no number oddly?

None of the metal clips fit the larger two white and two grey stubs, yet they look like the will easily let the white smooth stubs n black thread ones go into it enough for it's the grip.

So even though ive been supplied a one side kit, its not a complete kit.

So now i have to buy 4 of the 9e per side, very odd indeed. I think i may have a 'box of bits' that may be enough to fit the whole set.

I think they may not be able to get the proper part anymore and have thrown in the large push on clips as a make do to sell the rest did you buy direct from pug?

The clips are meant for the plain white stubs only and theres 2 used to secure each arch front and back to the bumpers

Great, i needed confirmation about the ends of the arches.

Looking in my box of bits i found these >

Not sure if the T shaped white clips are for the straight part of the arches of not ?

I found 3 of those 9e clips, i am going to try and get a load made up if i can, and get A few for other member's. I will try and get the smaller meal clips made in one big load to cut costs if i can get them made.

I found a few other clips on the aches in the pictures, most are the white versions of the threaded black clips, from what i remember, Miles said once that the black ones are the preferred choice to use. I see now the black/white ones dont need the metal clip which saves me some, just need 3 more made/bought i think.

I dont think i'll need another kit after finding a few plastic clips in the box of bits, just the metal ones in both sizes. As for the rubber washer's, well they can easily be sourced elsewhere.

On the front top part of the arch, does that single arch stud also use the smaller metal clips to attach ?

What are the two large white stubs for, they look just the same as the black ones but are wider in diameter ?

Ahh right i forgot about that centre lug on the arch well that obviously needs one of those large round clips, same as the two on each end of the arches trims where they attach to the bumpers! So then you should have the smooth white stubs either side of the centre lug with rubber washer and 9e clips, rest of the holes can be the black type! Although id would prefer to use all white stubs and clips - and dont even think about using only the black ones because they will let go at high speed or when driving through water etc etc blah, this is the reason for the press on clips! The grey stubs you have got spot on there, clip on red trim push through holes to hold trim and arch onto wing sorted! The hole underneath these is where the small white ones go from your very first picture at the top! Those 2 white clips in the top picture are red bumper trim clips ten per bumper puggy sell em in 5's robbin fuggers.

Well thats cleared that up then, thanks.

When you said bumper strip clips, i remembered about them.

I got my set from ebay, im pretty handy with service box now but could not find it, to then realise paragon has another ebay add in a different name, realised once payment was made..

Do you have the part number of those bumper strip clips by any chance ?

Ive got a few more of the smooth white stubs, so i'll try to fit then in the danger zone and further if i have enough of them, i dont want to have to buy another set.

I found this out to my dismay once when ordering a load of other stuff.

I though the price was per 5. Needed a bumpers worth so ordered 3 bags. Nearly £20 later I had my red strip fitted.

I have a tub full of them now from breakers for Justin Case.
