Fuel Consumption

Recommended Posts

well im currently buying my first car and im looking at 205s as they are like my favourite hatchback but i dont have much money so im wondering what the fuel consumption for the 1.1 styles? i hear that the 1.0L is less efficient? how is this?

the 1.1 style has 5 doors and a 1991 model.

thank you!!!

also does anyone have problems with the car in general? i mean like when you service it would you have to find the parts for them as they are hard to find? or will garages have parts for the 205?

can someone move this thread to the tu engine as i think its a 1.1 tu engine, correct me if im wrong please

Hi Martin and welcome to the forum.

I had a 1.1 as one of my first cars. Fuel consumption was pretty good - around 35-40mpg depending on how you drove. You might find that the difference in consumption figures for the 1.0 and 1.1 stem from the differing gear boxes - 1.1 being 5 speed vesus the 4 speed box in a 1.0L.

I love these cars and don't find any problems with them in general that I can't live with.

Parts are cheap and still plentiful for the commoner items like service parts etc, although these are frequently non OE now. The list of parts from peugeot that are listed as NFP (no further production) and which aren't covered by anyone else is growing, but the most part they are still reasonably easy to source second hand.

1.1 has just that little bit more guts so doesn't have to be thrashed as hard to make reasonable progress, same story went for the 1360 and 1527 TUD's in the 106.

hi everyone,

the peugeot ive looked at is a 1.1 style but it has a 4 speed gearbox not 5 :( also for the pug 205 if i was to get one do you think 80k miles would be good because nowadays people wouldnt look twice at a car with around 80k miles but ive been told that 80k miles for a 205 is considered low

Well your talking an average of 4k miles per year for a car thats 20+ years old so yes 80k is pretty good..

I'd bear in mind though if you are buying a 1.0./1.1L'd spec the engine would have to be thrashed pretty hard to get it up to any sort of speed for the motorway etc..
