Can't Get The Horn

Hi,

 

Trying to get ready for the MoT, last thing on the list is the bloody horn(s) which for some reason has stopped working.

 

Car is a 1991 1.6, albeit with an Mi16 fitted, so has the two horns underneath the nearside headlight. I've taken the horns off the car and they work fine when tested on a battery.

 

I have tried a separate earth to the horn but don't seem to have any power at the connector when pressing the horn button. I can't hear any relay clicking when I press the horn button either.

 

I was expecting the horn relay to be in the black box near the scuttle, but mine only has one green relay in it - I thought this was the horn relay, but it seems to be for the headlights as it clicks when I flash the headlights.

 

Where else could my horn relay be?

there is no relay, circuit goes;

 

Combination switch - wire 24 -fusebox (plug M pin 2) - (plug F pin 5) - wire 24 - horns - wire M24 - earth.

Relay is only for 1.9 models with an air horn fitted - as Welshpug says above, other models don't have a relay.

 

The relay you found is for the dim-dip headlight system.

It's not especially common, but they have been known to fail.
