Dampers!

Turned out that my near side damper was totally shot, I could push it down with my little finger!

Anyway came to fit my new ones, as I was taking the old gaiters off the rubber rebound on both had perished, and one of the rubber gaiters has had it!

Can I get hold of another gaiter.......nope!!

 

I've called my local part suppliers, I've called autofive and Peugeot and there saying there is non in the country!!! Does anyone know where else?

 

I've emailed loads of breakers on eBay and yet to hear off anyone!!

Dealers are lying again, the 'gaiter' as you put it is still available and is in stock at the Tile Hill parts depot in Coventry. Part number 525413 - should be able to get them next day.

EDIT - Just checked and the bumpstops are also in the country, part 503327.

Thanks for replies guys, managed to get hold of both bump stops and gaiters from Peugeot Chester cheaper than expected too! Will be putting everything back on tom eve!!!

Bump stops £13 each and gaiters £6 each!!

 

Now an update on the handling etc, as i originally mentioned the front end didn't feel planted and bounced around a lot, found out that one of my dampers was shot, so i replaced them with new sachs dampers,replaced drop links, lower arms, replaced springs with some Eibachs, new toyo proxes and tracking done.

Now....... when heavy breaking it pulls to the left and when cornering, handling goes lighter and gives way a little!

Could this now be engine mounts worn and would that explain the judder I get from moving off in first?

what made you buy sachs?

 

b4 bilsteins are the prefered standard replacement

I've read a few things on Sachs and read some good reviews so thought why not!

 

What do you think as regards to handling etc, All bolts are tight underneath.

Could it be anything else apart from engine mounts?

Check that all your caliper sliders move freely, that can cause squirmy braking if they are seized.

Worn engne mounts can definately cause engine judder when pulling away. Replacing all the old rubbery bits on these cars improves things a lot.
