As per title, just wondering if anyone has had their wheels done by the place in Nuneaton, guy called I think Tony who advertises through ebay?

I'm looking at getting a set done, interested in anyone who has had theirs done there and their opinions please?

Tony, but it was his son Craig that done alot of the forum/wheel stuff

he definatly was on here for a while - wheeler dealers used there 1.9 gti in a show, you know when they bring on the "mint example" and owner. iirc they dont actually do the refurb work them selves but farm it out.

I've had a set for years but they really don't get much use tbh. The polished lips haven't lasted amazingly and the paint has started to suffer next to them.

That's being picky mind, they're not too bad really. What really bugged me was/is the fact that the mounting faces and bolt holes were thickly coated too.

They might have changed the way they do them since of course!

Iv had 2 sets from him now,was really happy with the finish,i had goodwood style ones and you do need to keep on top of polishing the lips because they arnt laquered, the set i had on my 205 i used over winter and didnt clean as much as i should have done and the salt from the roads have left little pits in the lips, tony did say to me that i need to polish them alot otherwise the lip tarnishes, the second set i had on my 309 iv cleaned loads and they have been on for over 2years and only very slight marking where the paint meets the lip (being picky) .The lips are perfect.

The centre caps are always a different colour as he paints these with aerosol i guess, only other thing is the wheels are really tight getting on and off as paint is pretty thick

Would definatly buy another set though, imo good value for money

with them not being laquered you will be able to polish back up with some autosol, over winter if your using the car i would put some vasoline or something like that over them

I would stay away based on my experience. I bought some from him about a year ago and whilst they have stayed in great shape, he puts way too much laquer on so it actually dulls the sparkle of the paint and thus looks slightly not OEM.

There is that much on them, even the "speedline" stamp is almost filled in. Looking at the others he had on show at FCS 2011, mine was not the only set to get to get this treatment.

Still, they're a lot better than was on there before, and he was reasonably priced although I'm sure a local wheel refurb place could do a better job.

Holy thread revival...

Anyone know if this guy is still going? I had some wheels off him years ago and have been very happy so am looking to get another set done now.

Just wondered if anyone had had any recent contact with Tony and I he was still doing wheels?

Not sure about this year tbh, but up until late last year they did have the odd advert on Pistonheads / eBay advertising wheel refurbs of various Pug / Cit / BMW alloys.

I dropped my Goodwood ones there yesterday along with a cam cover too.

Looking forward to picking them up as the last set I got from him in silver were spot on.
