Front And Rear Ports On Master Cylinder

I can't see why it would make a difference but I want to check before I go bending....

 

On a 4 port master cylinder on a 1.9 does it matter which port you use for the front calipers and which use for the back?

 

I'm fitting new lines and the old ones came off about 5 years ago so I can't remember which way they were.

From memory typically the fronts are the ones nearest the front of the car.

 

In practise the cylinder bore is the same on both sets of ports so it doesn't matter which way around you pipe it.

The master cylinder is split into two circuits - one for the two front ports, and one for the rear two.

 

The 1.9 has the brakes connected diagonally, so you'd connect one front wheel and one rear wheel to each circuit. But other than that it doesn't matter.

Front to front, Rear to Rear, If you loose a hose you still have no brakes, Only if the M/S fails you get some braking effort
