I fear Gibbo knows not one jot about the MK1+2's, fair enough if he was referring to any version thereafter, perhaps with the exception of the Group A and WRC versions of the Cosworth, but way off the mark with the classic rear wheel drive variants that were around long before the term chav was thought of.

edit, WTF?! 20k job and they've painted the arches fecking black?! what's wrong with people!!! they should be body colour god dammit!!!

the shell was f***ed,it looked like it had sat in the scrap yard for 20 years and then given to us to fix, trying to find perfect genuine parts cost a fortune and yes there was a lot of labour in it but like i say the parts cost £1000,ssssss

and the underside was painted orange but the customer came in and wanted it blacked i was really pissed off with the bosses as the floor was mint,,,,,the customer is going to use it daily and wanted it protected but i think it should have been left orange as it was show standard underneath aswell

Mk1 Mexico wasn't named or badged RS,but had the same type 49(strengthened shell)as rs2000,rs1600 and twin cam

Nice car and well worth saving

I hate Fords but I can't help but love the Mk1 Escort, it's the only ford I'd own.

I think your getting confused. We aren't talking about your local chav in his xr3i.

Mk1 and mk2 escorts have legendary status for very good reasons and fetch a lot of dollar these days. Way out of any chavs pocket money budget.

Feel free to report my post I you think I should be banned lol. But I'm sure most the mods would agree...

Just don't understand why some many lads choke sucking old escort Wang..

They look s*it.

Yes they were rallied buy so where so many other cars including Skodas.. Do they also give you the horn.?

Mega cash on an old car. E30 m3 hands down which funnily enough carries a better pedigree.

The Escorts were extremely successful rally cars though, thats the difference and for that reason i'd also disagree that the E30 M3 does not carry a better pedigree than the Mk1 and 2 escorts. They are awesome cars, and the BDA lump on full song sounds awesome.

How much is a standard mk2 Escort in running condition worth in the UK then?

A very good base model(full car),£3-4k+

Basically your just buying a very solid shell to convert to GP4.Cars can be had for less though.

'Montescorts' have some very nice cars imported from South Africa so are right hand drive and pretty decent prices too.

there aren't many non-concourse or non-rally mk1's and 2's about! many of the former are often the latter, but certainly not the other way round

Right... So what version is this and how much do you reckon this pile of Ford () is worth, being an LHD shell though?
