205 Rallye Uk Spec Brake Upgrade

Recommended Posts

aarontrophy

Been thinking about upgrade the brakes on my Rallye, was thinking

Do 1.6 calipers fit? Or do I need 1.6 hubs

I don't really want to put Gti subframe on it

It has the standard steels on it

I have 266's off what I was told to be a 206 gti.

They're more than enough, even with oem pads.

You'd have a job to fit those under standard 13's. If its running 14's though 1.9 gti are by far the best value for money upgrade along with the larger master cylinder.

They won't fit under 13's but I didn't realise the op ran them as he didn't mention wheels..

106 gti or vts calipers and discs fit straight on to base model hubs improves the braking by a mile. no more glowing solid discs .lol

Whats calipers are the lightest, and what setup (in your opinion) gives the best performance?

I am unsure of weight and can only comment on the 1.9 calipers. They are more than enough for my GTI6 engined car, fully rebuilt with a bigger master cyclinder, the MOT man said he'd never seen brakes so good on a 205! haha

1.6 gti bendix caliper would be the lightest for a vented setup short of going for a 2/4 pot completely ally caliper.

For the price of the hi spec four pots you may as well get them.

Can pick them up cheap on places like saxp/moaners.

Edit: they come in two difference sizes, one fits 14" and the other 15".

price of calipers, pads, discs and custom mounting brackets is going to £300+, slightly more than the £30~ for some 2nd hand 1.9 or similar calipers.
