Gti6 No Spark After Flywheel Change. Wiring Problems?

Recommended Posts

Karl

as some of you know i have changed my flywheel yesterday but it is now not starting but the wiring from the conversion was well dodgy the guy who done it for me totally bodged it so i have very little idea as to what goes where i havent got a spark but the fuel pump i believe is engaging plus when turning over twith the spark plug out i can smell fuel.

i have got a loose white wire which might go somewhere and a cluster of three yellow wires joind up together at the end which i think goes somewhere, i also have a brown plug with 1 yellow wire coming of it the plud previously had 2 more wires but they have benn cut off green and red.

i know this is very vague and probably very difficult to pictue but any help would be appreciated.

i am working on fixing it right now with my laptop next to me so i can try things and reply instantly PLEASE HELP!!!!

The crank sensor wires only run between the ecu & sensor so the wiring to these shouldn't have been touched during the conversion imo & the wires to the plug usually run through a shielded cable so would all be seen as one thicker wire instead of single wires afaik.

You can check the resistance of the crank sensor with a multimeter, you are looking for between 300-400Ω between pin 1 & 2 on the sensor plug.

You can also check for voltage during cranking across pins 1 & 2 with the sensor unplugged (autodata also recommends unplugging injectors to do this) on the loom side, you should see 1-4v ac fluctuating during cranking.

Have you got voltage at pin 2 of the coilplug? You should see battery voltage with the ignition on.

Have you missed connecting an earth to the gearbox earth stud when you had it apart to swap the flywheel?

Do you have earth wire between the gearbox and the car body? I tend to forget that one.

Is the ecu loom earth one of these three?
