Save Genuine Peugeot Stock ! Closer Cooperation With Peugeot

Recommended Posts

Para

Hi guys,

I've started this action with few of my friends from Polish 205 Fan Club. We are keeping in contact and cooperating with officials from Peugeot Poland, we are receiving a great support and few of our members lend their cars to Peugeot Poland for promotion of their new 208.

After couple of emails with management and marketing department we start asking for goodies for our little 205s. What we find out is that through numbers of dealership in the country there is a large stock of old genuine parts being stored, some of them will get destroyed soon as they have no selling capabilities and there was no interest in them.

So far we have received small list of parts which can be purchased directly from the warehouses, shelves in Peugeot Dealerships for our 205. I just want to share this information with you guys, so maybe you can try to get closer with your main dealer and ask them the same question. Don't be afraid to sent couple of emails as attitude in Peugeot changed a bit and they are more open for cooperation now. Maybe your admin can do this.

We are hoping to get more information in the future and save as much genuine parts as we can because we all know that parts for our cars will not be available forever, it's better to get them now ;)

All the best,

Mike

Most of it is just mechanical easy to get parts which every motor factor would have in stock... So we have list of clutches, brake pads etc... nothing madly interesting yet. I am waiting for list of accessories and interior parts

Probably at the beginning of next year 2013, Peugeot will introduce their 208 GTI. We can expect lots of interest in our 205s as they would like to present previous cars at the announcement of 208. We already received first requests and cars were briefly booked.

In my last email with management I was introduced to this website http://www.serie04.com/fr/20596-accessoires they have large amount of genuine parts in stock, not only for 205 but also for previous models.

Thanks,

Mike

Good thinking, it might be a bit late to try this with Peugeot UK but I wonder if it might be worth contacting Motaquip as they have recently stopped holding various own brand 205 GTI bits, HT leads, wishbones etc but might have some left on shelves etc.

There is a lot of stuff stuck in dealership stock. A lot of the smaller groups bin nothing and keep it in stock. The bigger groups bin it at 3 years because of space issues.

I know we have stock going back to the late 70s. The problem is:

- you can't search by model, only part number. So we may have a T16 engine, but unless you search the computer for that part number, you would never know.

- finding the parts. We have cargo containers stored in one of our compounds that is dead stock. You would have to hunt for a week through all the crap to find anything.

You can view other dealers stock too, but most of them realise a rare part when you request it and charge the earth.

I got a head gasket kit for 20p (have to show a cost to invoice it out) for an XU9J4S last year and my parts man found a set of rear calipers a couple of months ago that I also got.

It is out there!

We bin nothing. You just never know, and since we have loads of land, storage is not a problem. A lot of smaller dealers do this as they don't believe in binning stock.

One of the problems with the Prism system is that you have to pay a subscription to list your old stock on there so a lot of the smaller dealers don't bother. At least that was the excuse where i work. To be honest they didn't even know the system existed until i found it and asked the area manager for the login details.

Also, with regards to binning old stock, two years ago citroen 'bought' a huge amount of 80's/90's stuff off us under the condition that we bought a load of brand new model stock from them to replace it. They then just said to bin the old stuff and had no intention of having it back so we kept what we had room for but a fair bit ended up in a skip.

Exactly, that's the problem. Obviously we don't have any interesting Peugeot stuff just some mechanical bits that are cross compatible so likely wouldn't be much use to you anyway. At least Prism does include both Peugeot and Citroen dealers though because often these things are seperated.
