We have a set on a 106 gti with standard 14 in wheels so can't see why they wouldn't fit under 205 wheels.

my brothers Phase1 306 DTurbo still has its original 14" Harriers and S16 266mm brakes :)

I tried to fit 266mm 306 XSi brakes under 1600 pepperpots, they did not fit as the caliper fouled the wheel.

how bad was it Tom? IIRC the Lucas calipers that the XSI used are much more bulky than the S16 girling ones.

could also be the wheels though, they're the same offset but the harriers have a much flatter profile and spoke.

What about 'challenge wheels' (405 gtx)?

they should just fine as most 405's roll on lower offset 266mm brakes, same caliper itself as the S16.

Probably would have needed a10mm spacer to create room, the caliper fouled on the inner part of the wheel near the bolt holes, on the radius from the holed part to the centre boss.

What's the biggest you can fit on 1.6 hubs?

Bosch 54 calipers should fit, I think. The Girling calipers have a bit sticking out on the bottom end of the caliper (or was it lucas??).

it'd the carrier that may need a tickle with a grinder not the caliper itself usually, taking a mm or two wont harm it.

Other than 1.6 GTi/CTi's, the hub offset is the same on 205's and 306's.

I use 266mm bosch brakes. From a berlingo (same oe part numbers for 206 gti.) They fit fine under 14inch pepperpots. Stopping power is amazing, but steering is slightly duller.

mine are the same brakes well off a 306 hdi and wouldnt say they fit fine hit the wheels by 3mm do ground them down 3mm or i could or ran 5mm spacers and they would have fit fine. yer mine stops mint now but steering is also fine.
